The 2008 Chateau Lafite Rothschild 1er cru classé wine has a very deep, almost opaque purple colour. The bouquet is quite similar to the Duhart: a little sulky and timid at this stage, although it always takes longer to emerge than other Pauillacs. Blackberry leaf, a touch of tobacco and graphite, almost conservative at the moment. After a couple of minutes, those fruits begin to emerge with blackberry, a touch of scorched leather, Christmas cake and all spice. The palate is very well structured, firm tannins, good acidity and a wonderful crescendo. This Chateau Lafite Rothschild wine is very fresh on the finish, subtle oak, unfurling with the passing minutes. The 2008 Chateau Lafite Rothschild wine is an Outstanding.

The 2008 Chateau Lafite Rothschild wine has a blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc.

The 2008 Trimbach Cuvee Frederic Emile Riesling wine has a bright straw green. This Cuvee Frederic Emile Riesling wine has aromas of lemon zest, menthol, crushed stone and saline oyster shell, plus a hint of musk. The Riesling wine is concentrated and rich, with strong crushed rock and smoky, apple and pear flavors. The Trimbach Cuvee Frederic Emile Riesling wine is very long and powerful, with terrific energy and inner-mouth perfume, suggesting that there’s even more ahead for this beauty.

A prestigious collectors’ cuvée and Alsace icon, this is the Trimbach family’s signature cuvée; nimbly dansing on the knifeedge between powerful intensity and delicate aromatic elegance, with an outstanding cellaring potential.
